Many process applications require level control in reactors, absorbers, scrubbers, decanters, etc. The control may be a simple on-off type similar to that described in Magtech's application note AN88-7.

Float switch type controllers are very limited as to the range over which they can control. The magnetic level gauge can control over a range of a few inches to many feet depending on the requirement. The on-off control operation can be achieved through the use of electric or pneumatic switches.

The other advantage is that continuous PID control can be accomplished using LT-1 level transmitter options with a 4-20 mA output. At the same time, independent high and low level alarms can be added to the same gauge as redundant backups.
